The paper discusses a bearings information based guidance method for stand-off target tracking. Motivated from the classical pitch-fork bifurcation, heading error dynamics is formulated as a function of itself and a control parameter. The operating range of the control parameter for achieving stand-off tracking is analyzed followed by a closed-form expression for the look-ahead angle variation. An expression for the initial heading for the desired stand-off radius is derived. Simulation results present efficacy of the proposed methodology.
