Abstract

This work reports the structural and dielectric properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) composites with functionalized carbon nanotube (FCNT) prepared by the hot pressing method. XPS, SEM, TEM, and TGA techniques were employed to understand the extent of functionalization of CNT with acid treatment. Permittivity, Electric Modulus, and AC conductivity measurements of hot pressed samples are compared with samples prepared by the solvent casting method. It was found that the PVDF-FCNT composites were formed with more γ phases. Hot pressing the samples increases the overall polar phases, especially the β phase. The permittivity, electric modulus, and AC conductivity studies reveal the dielectric behavior and conductivity changes with hot pressing samples.
