Abstract

The polymer material used in the composite insulators are basically composed of silicone rubber and alumina filler. The addition of filler imparts excellent thermal properties and also tracking resistance. However, the effect of space charge in the bulk of polymer material with filler is rarely studied. The main intention of the work is to understand the analytically, the space charge physics and its temporal evolution under the application of a DC electric field. The space charge accumulation in the bulk of the polymer material and its variation with the application of DC voltage and temperature is being computed in the present work. © 2021 IEEE.
