Abstract
This paper introduces a new vector field guidance method for following elliptic paths. The proposed vector field commands the course angle expressed as a combination of tangent to the path and a nonlinear function of the error. Further analysis deduces the curvature variation for the elliptic path following vector field. Stability of the proposed method is shown using Lyapunov indirect method. Considering a two-dimensional kinematic model of a UAV, simulation results are presented in support. © 2022, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.
