Abstract

There are several theories proposed and used extensively for the analysis of symmetric laminated plates. They are concerned with accurate estimation of stresses (more so for transverse stresses) along the interfaces of plies. Ply analysis is dependent on lamination. Generally, statically equivalent transverse stresses through post-processing are obtained with thickness-wise integration of equilibrium equations. Here, Poisson theory is used in which ply analysis is independent of lamination and solutions for displacements satisfy both static and thickness-wise integrated equilibrium equations. A novel procedure hitherto unknown in the existing literature is proposed for the analysis of unsymmetrical laminated plates. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
