Abstract

High frequency klystrons mostly use rectangular reentrant cavities. A simple approach for calculation of unloaded quality factor of a rectangular double reentrant klystron cavity with cylindrical ferrule was developed, by the way of transforming the rectangular reentrant cavity geometry to that of an equivalent cylindrical reentrant cavity and then using the Wheeler's incremental inductance method. The proposed analysis was validated against the results obtained from the 3D electromagnetic simulation, existing rigorous analysis as well as from the measurements. © 2020 IAMOT.
