In this paper, we focus on the gain and phase calibration of a sensor array and the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of multiple far-field broadband sources. By leveraging the fact that the calibration errors vary across frequencies smoothly and the DOAs of broadband sources are the same for the frequency range of interest, we propose a blind calibration method to jointly estimate the gain and phase errors. This joint estimation problem is a non-convex optimization problem. Hence, it is relaxed to a convex optimization problem by exploiting the underlying algebraic structure. Numerical and experimental results using real measurement data are presented, to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed solver. Both results are based on an acoustic vector sensor (AVS) linear array. © 2019 IEEE.
