Abstract
We propose and demonstrate a versatile waveguide configuration that offers a widely tunable waveguide dispersion. The waveguide is formed by sandwiching high-index silicon between medium-index silicon nitride. We demonstrate grating couplers for both TE and TM mode with efficiency of -3.27 and -8 dB per coupler respectively and also demonstrate a ring resonator with a Q-factor of 3400 and a maximum extinction of 30 dB. © 2019 IEEE.
