Abstract

Electrodeposition of Fe, Co, and Ni from buffered fluoroborate baths was studied under different conditions, and the effect of metal ion concn., pH, temp., and agitation on cathode current efficiency and cathode potential was investigated at different c.d. The hardness and microstructure of the metallic deposits was also studied. The ferrous bath gave good metallic deposits at .apprx.60 Deg with approx. 90% efficiency. Co and Ni baths gave bright metallic deposits with similar efficiency at room temp. The mechanism of electrodeposition is also discussed.
