Abstract
Fastest growing economies like India observe changing role of their women population. Last few decades have experienced increase in women workforce and education, consequently increasing their outdoor activities. In face of growing levels of congestion in cosmopolitan cities like Bangalore, where majority female population use buses consistently, necessary safety measures should be implemented. This paper attempts to investigate various service gaps that may exist and find answers to research questions like what kinds of issues are faced by women in public buses and how safe women feel in public buses. The paper intends to analyse various service gaps related to safety factors and the expectations of women from the bus operators. (C) 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B. V.
