Abstract
This paper presents an approach for congestion management in day to day operation of power systems. The control scheme used for overload mitigation is real power generation rescheduling based on virtual power flows through the overloaded line. The method estimates the real power flow contribution of each generator in the overloaded line and then based on their proportions and direction of flows, generator rescheduling is carried out such that overloading is mitigated.
