We develop an interpolation algorithm based on the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) criterion using 2-D PLLs for timing recovery in 2-D magnetic recording (TDMR) channel. We also propose an optimal quantized structure to enable practical timing architectures. We test the efficacy of our algorithm with simulations over a 2-D readback waveform with induced errors.
