Abstract
Tracking and erosion is an important constraint for the long term evaluation of polymeric insulators used in high voltage transmission. In the present work, experiments are conducted on different polymer insulator samples; to evaluate these insulating samples a Recurrence plot (RP) analysis is adopted. The results of the recurrence plot analysis of discharge current sequence confirms that a discharge process is prolonged if the number of droplets containing contaminants is increased. Also the quantitative indicators: recurrence rate (RR) and Determinism (DET) are used to evaluate the performance of various polymeric insulating materials.
