Abstract

Ammonium perchlorate (AP: 70-85 wt%) and carboxy or hydroxy terminated polybutadiene (CTPB or HTPB: 15-20 wt%) constitute the major ingredients of commonly-used composite solid propellant systems. The polymer, in addition to its function as a fuel, acts as a binder for the structural integrity of the solid propellant.
