Abstract

An enantioselective total synthesis of the novel bioactive epoxyquinone natural product (−)-EI-1941-2, exhibiting promising ICE inhibiting activity, has been accomplished from a readily available chiron derived from the Diels–Alder adduct of cyclopentadiene and p-benzoquinone.
