Salannin 1 and deacetylsalannin 2 have been quantitatively converted into l-detigloyloxy-3-deacetylsalannin-1-en-3-one 3,dagger a hitherto unknown compound, in a single step using Nocardia sp. and the pathway for the transformation has been investigated
