Abstract
Variable-temperature in situ crystallography on $KHSO_{4}$ shows that the pyrolysis of $KHSO_{4}$ to $K_{2}S_{2}O_{7}$ occurs via a three-step kinetic pathway monitored by crystal-to-crystal phase transitions while providing an explanation for the high proton conductivity to be due to the disordered hydrogen-bonding pattern.
