Abstract

An existing statistical method has been employed for the analysis of the debris of Al-Si alloys. This analysis shows that, whilst the total number of debris fragments for hypereutectic alloys is higher than that for hypoeutectic alloys, the mean debris volume is less. The change in both parameters is highly pronounced at a low load.
