The effect of intranasal spray of norethisterone (NET) [68-22-4] and progesterone (P) [57-83-0] on serum testosterone (T) [58-22-0] and total sperm count in adult male bonnet monkeys and the effect of NET spray on the menstrual cycle in female monkeys was studied. Whereas NET spray resulted in a drastic decrease in serum T levels and sperm count, P spray caused a decrease in total sperm count only. Intranasal spray of NET in adult cycling female monkeys between days 5 and 14 shortened the menstrual cycle ascribed to a decrease in serum FSH [9002-68-0], LH [9002-67-9], 17$\beta$-estradiol [50-28-2], and P levels. Nasal spray of only solvent in male or female monkeys had no effect on any of the parameters tested
