A review is given with 45 references. The atmospheric configuration of quasicrystals is close to that of large unit cell crystals with an icosahedral motif as well as assemblies of twins of such crystals. The quasicrystal, crystal, and twin configurations are used to advance the understanding of the atomic structure of alloys.
