Abstract

A very sensitive method for the detn. of Hg(II) after extn. of its bromide-Rhodamine 6G complex into benzene was developed. The optimum pH range for the extn. is 0.5-4.5. The molar absorptivity and Sandell sensitivity are$ 8.2 \times104 L.mol-1.cm-1$ and 2.5 ng cm-2, resp. The interference of various ions was studied. The method is applicable to the detn. of Hg in coal and sea water.
