Vilsmeier reaction of 2- and 3-cyclohexenone, prepd. by Birch redn. of PhOMe, gave 61% 2,4,6-$(OCH)_3C_6H_2Cl$. 4-Methyl-2- and 3-cyclohexenone, prepd. from p-$MeC_6H_4OMe$, similarly gave 63% 4,3,5-$Cl(HCO)_2C_6H_2Me$, and 2- and 6-methyl-2-cyclohexenone gave 60% 2,3,5-$Cl(HCO)_2C_6H_2Me$.
