Abstract

The present model has idealized the mass transfer with chemical reaction occurring in a venturi scrubber by dividing the liquid into fine droplets with each droplet being assumed to have a gas envelope around it. We further assume that the droplet and gas envelope combination remains as an individual entity throughout the stay in the scrubber. The gas envelope is assumed to contain a limited amount of reactant, whereas the drop contains a much larger quantity of liquid-phase reactant than that required for complete reaction with the amount of gaseous reactant present in the envelope.
