Abstract

No change was found in the burning rate of polystyrene (I) [9003-53-6] in the presence of $NH_3$. $NH_3$ is typically released from such flame retardants as ammonium phosphates and halides. In the experiments,$NH_3$ was added both to the oxidant side and to the fuel side of the flame.
