Abstract

The unsteady state heat transfer and temp. distribution of a superinsulated liquid $N_2$ storage dewar was studied and the results are analyzed based on the simple conduction heat transfer model. The short time behavior of the evaporation rate is established and compared with experimental data. The contribution of radiation heat transfer is evaluated from the steady state temprature distribution of multilayer insulation. Preliminary experimental results on the in-situ treatment of adsorber material for improving its adsorption capacity is discussed.
