The electroslag remelting of com. Al using $MgCl_2-KCl-MgF_2 (Na_3AlF_6)$ slags at 25-50 V and 400-1000 A decreased the Si content from 0.20-0.34 to 0.10-0.17%, by £70%. A decrease in the Fe content from 0.22 to 0.16% was achieved by d.c. remelting in $MgCl_2-40KCl-10% MgF_2$ fluxes contg. AlP
