The acoustic field generated by an unsteadily burning fuel droplet in an oxidizing atm. is theor. investigated by using linearized unsteady conservation equations governing droplet combustion. D. oscillations at the droplet surface are negligible. For such droplets, an anal. soln. is obtained for the acoustic field. The anal. soln. indicates that in the near field, the acoustic pressure amplitude decays slowly with radial distance when compared to the case of a radially oscillating sphere.
