Abstract

The authors present a digital method of evaluating the natural frequencies and transient voltage distributions on an integrated transmission line and transformer system. The transmission line and transformer have been modelled considering the significant interphase and intraphase couplings. A transformation technique has been used to convert the phase variables into substitute component variables, which act independently. The analysis shows that the presence of transmission line, in many cases, protects the transformer (when excitation is applied at the beginning of the transmission line) and the transformer neutral termination (isolated/grounded) is very sensitive in deciding the transient voltage distribution along the integrated network.
