Abstract

A cryostat for point contact and tunnelling measurements in the spectroscopic mode of a tunnelling microscope has been designed and constructed The cryostat fits into the 38.1 mm bore of a superconducting magnet and can be operated from 1.7 to 30 K in a 0 to 8 T magnetic field. Point contact and tunnelling data are presented to demonstrate the performance of the cryostat.
