Abstract
In recent years, high-resolution NMR Spectroscopy has undergone a tremendous growth with the addition of a large number of new pulse sequences for selective excitation, polarization and coherence transfer, multidimensional spectroscopy, spectral editing, broadband decoupling, multiplequantum Spectroscopy, and spatial-localization experiments. In many of these experiments there is a requirement to filter out certain unwanted magnetization components. This is achieved by a variety of techniques, one of the chief methods being the use of suitable phase cycling employing phase shifts of the radiofrequency pulses and the receiver reference phase. For nuclei of low inherent sensitivity, phase cycling does not add to the experimental time. But for proton and other highsensitivity nuclei, the additional time required by this technique is often superfluous.
