A MAN may serve as a backbone network interconnecting many low speed LAN. Some of the performance issues for such a case are addressed using the low speed channel model with one station per node. Heavy load performance is addressed by assuming that stations generate packets on demand. A dual bus network with two active stations communicating with each other is considered, and the performance of three probabilistic control methods is reported. In a network with three or more nodes, the throughput performance of two of the control methods is analysed.
