Summary form only given, as follows. The technological developments in aircraft design such as use of advanced composite materials which provide less electromagnetic shielding than conventional metallic structures and the increased use of VLSI circuits in many flight critical subsystems have made them more vulnerable to voltages and currents induced by lightning strokes. The nose radome of an aircraft is especially prone to direct lightning strike and possible damage to itself, as well as, associated antenna and other equipment. Thus it has become necessary to simulate the direct and indirect effects of lightning strike to aircraft/aircraft components and thereby study its interaction with and without suitable hardening measures. This paper describes the lightning test facility specifically designed and built for simulating the direct and indirect effects of lightning, e.g., attachment, structural damages, induced voltages etc. The results obtained during lightning attachment and high current studies on an aircraft nose radome are also presented and discussed
