Abstract

In this paper the multi-installment load distribution strategy is applied to a linear network of processors without front-ends. The communication links in the network are assumed to have non-zero delays. The load is distributed in more than one installment in order to minimize the processing time. Recursive equations are developed for heterogeneous networks and a closed-form solution is derived for homogeneous networks. To obtain the ultimate performance limits of the network, a computational study is conducted and some significant results are inferred
