Abstract

The electrically produced grey-tracks in KTP single crystals have been studied employing electrical and optical techniques. A study of dielectric properties of the grey tracked crystals shows a decrease: in the low-frequency dielectric constant $ε_{33}$ and dielectric loss. The loss peak showed a shift towards the low-frequency. A decrease in the a.c. ionic conductivity is also observed in the grey tracked samples. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the electrically damaged KTP show a broadband luminescence in the 700-900 nm region with a peak at 885 nm. The temperature and intensity dependences of the PL peaks were carried out. The observed photoluminescence is attributed to $^2E$ to $^2T_2$ transitions in the $Ti^{3+}$ levels
