Abstract

The mm-wave FMCW-Radar can be used as a useful tool to extract vital-sign information such as breathing-rate and heart rate. The transmitted chirp from the radar interacts with the objects in its vicinity, reflected chirp contains information about object distance from radar and chest-cavity displacement. Due to the displacement in chest cavity because of breathing and heart rate, the chirp from the radar will reflect with different characteristics. Analysing this signal allows us to extract useful information. In this work, we aimed to convert the offline mode of data capturing and subsequent processing to real-time data visualization and processing. Both offline and realtime modes required different processing steps. Realtime processing was an extension to our previous work where an offline-processing algorithm was developed to calculate heart rate and breathing rate using unwrapped-phase data of the mm-wave FMCW-Radar data. We also compare ECG signal in the chosen dataset (available in reference 6) with radar data (available in reference 6) after processing. © 2021 IEEE.
