Abstract

We report the use of Hydroxydiphenyl ether class of chemicals, as exemplified by triclosan, (2,4,4,'-trichloro-2'-hydroxydiphenyl ether), for both treatment and design of therapeutics for treatment of malaria. More specifically, the present invention relates to identification of fatty acid synthesis as target for this compound as well as a key enzyme involved in synthesizing them.
