Abstract

The last time I saw Kaushal Kishore was on Monday, just a day before he died, working away in his characteristic style till late at night. I am told he left the department after midnight, and on reaching home he complained of some breathing discomfort and was rushed to the hospital only to be pronounced dead. The way I saw him the following day - in his white achkan and kurtha, is how I shall always remember him. In this - his holiday dressing style, his politeness and his love for Urdu, he was always a Lucknowi.
