Abstract
Wedges are often used in lining the internal surfaces of the anechoic chambers. The design of these wedges has invariably been based on extensive experimentation. In this paper, a finite element model for predicting the reflection characteristics of a wedge in an impedance tube is proposed. This model is based on the bulk reaction concept, thus accounting for the wave propagation in the wedge material. The theoretical predictions are compared with those of the experimental results reported elsewhere. Design curves for the rectangular and conical wedges generated on a desktop computer are also given.
