Abstract

In recent years, advances in computer technology have gone hand-in-hand with the introduction of computers into new applications areas. Software is now being used in applications ranging from transaction processing to real-time life critical systems, which demand extremely high reliability characteristics. This is achieved by testing, proofs of correctness and certifying the process of building the product. A novel approach combining reliability and the re-entrant lines model to depict the software testing/debugging verification and validation phases of the software life cycle is presented. The importance of the results obtained to industry is discussed and a methodology for the process of software testing is proposed.
