Abstract
The glass-forming range (GFR) in ternary Ti-Ni-Al alloys was determined via mechanical alloying using a high energy Spex mill. The GFR was also calculated using Miedema's model. Although the theoretical GFR is quite large, the experiments showed a very limited GFR. The concentration ranges chosen were $Ti_{50}Ni_xAl_{50-x}$ (x=10, 25, 40), $Ti_{60}Ni_yAl_{40-y}$ (y=10, 20, 30), $Ti_{70}Ni_{15}Al_{15}, Ni_2TiAl$ and TiNiAl. Prolonged milling of the amorphous $Ti_{50}Ni_{25}Al_{25}$ powders led to the reappearance of the crystalline peaks. Calorimetric experiments showed an endothermic peak near 600 K in most of the samples
