Abstract

The machining of copper surface generates a topography which in the direction normal to the tool travel is a reflection of the tool edge topography and is caused by plastic ploughing even at microscopic scales. The topography in the direction of tool travel is more Brownian and is due to fracture caused by sliding wear.
