Abstract

Magnesium ferrites are considered as the most versatile among the ferrite families and have found widespread applications in microwave devices. Suitable selection of substitutes and appropriate processing have been responsible for their utility. Recently, we reported a rapid combustion synthesis of spinel ferrites [1-3]. In this letter, we report the preparation and properties of $Mg_xZn_{1-x}Fe_20_4$ (where x = 0-1.0) by the combustion of magnesium nitrate, zinc nitrate, iron(III) nitrate, ammonium nitrate and oxalyl dihydrazide (ODH) at 350 °C in less than 5 min.
