Abstract

A replica theory of equal-time correlations in a statically disordered liquid is proposed. Correlation functions of the flux liquid in a strongly anisotropic, layered superconductor with random point pinning sites are calculated in this approach, using a liquid state theory formalism. The freezing transition of this flux liquid in a Larkin pinning volume is studied using a replica density functional approach. The boundary between flux solid and flux liquid in the pure case is found to be only slightly perturbed by weak, quenched disorder, in agreement with recent experiments.
