Abstract

The mixed alkali effect (MAE) in glasses has been investigated using molecular dynamics simulation. It has been established using Van Hove type correlation functions that alkali ions exhibit site preferences during migration. The occurrence of conductivity minimum has been demonstrated, and reasons for suppression of MAE at high temperatures are indicated.
