Abstract

This paper proposes a new power circuit topology to generate a 24-sided polygonal voltage space vector structure(SVS) for elimination of lower order harmonics up to 19th order from motor phase voltage through out the modulation range. Generated space vectors are realized without switched average technique minimizing switching losses. In the proposed scheme, an open end winding induction motor is fed with a primary inverter from one end and a secondary inverter from the other end. The primary inverter and secondary inverter are implemented using combination of cascaded 2 level inverters. The dc power sources required are such that they are easy to generate using star delta transformer connections. The machine phase voltage is devoid of all the lower order harmonics (5th, 7th, 11th, 13th ,17th , 19th) which gives sinusoidal phase current and smoother torque profile for motor operation. The proposed scheme extends the linear modulation range till 99.42. The proposed scheme is implemented and verified with MATLAB simulation and validated with experimental results. © 2021 IEEE.
