Abstract

In the present work, for the first time, ultrafast dynamics of recombinative desorption of molecular oxygen (Oadsorbed + Oadsorbed = O2,gas) from the Pd(1 1 0) single crystal surface has been explored using the femtosecond two-pulse correlation spectroscopy. The time scale of this reaction is found to be ~1 picosecond. Theoretical simulation predicts important role of the hot electrons in this surface chemical reaction. © 2021
