Abstract

This paper deals with flight data Compatibility Check (CC) and the identification of aerodynamic coefficients of a Flight Vehicle from flight telemetry data. The Method of Maximum Likelihood Estimation technique (MMLE) using Broyden Fletcher Golden Shanno (BFGS) optimization algorithm with line search has been employed for processing the data. Use of BFGS with MMLE has been validated in a simulated environment and it has been concluded that for the present flight vehicle under study only BFGS can minimize the cost function where as conventional Newton Raphson (NR) technique fails to converge when the number of measurements are very few or when the initial input values to the optimizer are somewhat far away from the true values.
