Abstract

Data on isothermal pressure drop and heat transfer to non-Newtonian fluids (both pseudoplastic and dilatant) in different coiled pipes (helical and spiral coils) at constant tube wall temperature conditions are presented. The present data have been compared with the corresponding correlations and theoretical results available for straight and coiled pipes in the literature, both for Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid flow and heat transfer. A correlation is set up which can represent the present data as well as the data available in literature for Newtonian fluids.
