Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of connectivity restoration of wireless sensor networks after disconnection caused by some unanticipated damage in the network. We propose a distributed and autonomous approach of reconnecting disjoint clusters thus formed, deploying minimum number of agents. In this approach, each survivor cluster first identifies itself and then sends a negotiator to participate in a round table decision-making process. All such negotiators exchange information and decide upon reconnection paths between clusters using available agents. The negotiators then return to their respective clusters and the reconnection process is carried out. A simple example of two disconnected clusters is used to demonstrate the superiority of this approach over existing approaches in the literature. Simulation results on a large network are obtained to illustrate the efficacy of the proposed approach.
