Abstract

The first total synthesis of a bioactive metabolite, isolated from the fungi Acremonium sp. HKI 0230, containing a cyclopentaspirobenzofuran carbon framework, employing an Ireland ester Claisen rearrangement and RCM reaction based strategy has been accomplished.
